Best Time to go: The Sunshine State, so named for its year round appeal, with the summer months being the hottest and November to May usually being the driest. Couples seeking a more sedate Florida honeymoon or wedding may want to head there out of season as it can get particularly busy during holiday times.

Best Beaches: Whilst not renowned as a beach holiday, Florida has some beautiful stretches of sand. On the east coast there’s St. Augustine which boasts 24 miles of sandy coast line, the surfers paradise of Daytona Beach, the dreamy Cocoa Beach and the hidden treasure that is Palm Beach. In the south, Fort Lauderdale which is still referred to as the ‘Venice of America’ and Miami and South Beach provides a chic, contemporary hang-out for the coolest beach babes. The west coast provides a sand covered play ground for the rich and famous in the form of Naples and Marco Island, a beach bound getaway for theme park guests on the Gulf Coast and the secluded, laid back sanctuary of Sanibel and Fort Myers.

For Activity Lovers: Theme Parks of all shapes and sizes in Orlando are just the start of things for Florida. Golf is a popular pastime with many championship courses, watersports are available from many of the beach resorts, including sailing opportunities at Cocoa Beach. Snorkelling and diving are extremely popular in the Florida Keys where active types can also do some cycling or hiking in the nature reserves. Time your visit well and have a little luck with take-off windows and bag yourself an up-close and personal viewing of a space mission launch.
