Wedding Planning Tools

For those who just can’t get enough of the stuff, a chocolate wedding theme is a rich affair, and wherever you look you will be reminded of and tempted to take just one more bite! This article takes a closer look at how to style your big day, from beginning to end, when opting for a chocolate wedding theme.

Colours for a Chocolate Wedding Theme

The colour scheme of a wedding plays a large part in setting the scene for the wedding theme, and when it comes to a chocolate wedding theme three colours stand head and shoulders above their counterparts - cream, brown (or a derivative of - coffee, capuccino etc.) and gold. Deep purple is another colour heavily associated with the chocolate industry here in the UK and you could look to use this as well, but don't go overboard or it could look like your wedding is being sponsored!

Stationery for a Chocolate Wedding Theme

Whilst you could opt for brown stationery, an alternative would be to use actual edible chocolate stationery where possible - invites, place cards etc. A sealed chocolate order of service would be possible, but it's best not to go overboard!

Transport for a Chocolate Wedding Theme

A vintage cream wedding car would be one transport option for a chocolate wedding theme - a more modern cream limo would be another. As a twist on the norm, fill the rear pacel shelf with gold foil wrapped sweets as opposed to flowers and, health and safety rules pending, wind down the windows and throw them to your guests as you leave!

Outfits for a Chocolate Wedding Theme

A cream wedding dress with a column or ballgown profile would look superb, and consider getting coffee, cappuccino or purple thread interwoven into the material to tie up with your colour scheme. Finish the outfit off with a pair of golden wedding shoes and a gold tiara. Coffee or purple coloured slinky satin Bridesmaid dresses will complement the bridal gown perfectly.

For the gents, classic cream lounge suits or nehru jackets look ace accompanied by a brown or cream tie. Consider similarly styled suits for the Groomsmen with an alternate coloured tie. Complete all gents outfits with gold cufflinks and well polished brown leather shoes.

Flowers for a Chocolate Wedding Theme

Cream gerberas and white roses make for wonderful flowers for a chocolate wedding theme day, and look to incorporate brown twigs into any boquets and posies.

If you are planning to hold the wedding in autumn, look to hold some element outdoors to take advantage of the brown coloured canvas that nature provides naturally.

Venue for a Chocolate Wedding Theme

Museums and theatres make for a good setting, but if truth be told any venue is good so long as they are willing to let you set up a chocolate fountain indoors!

Food & Drink for a Chocolate Wedding Theme

Food and drink provides a wonderful opportunity to showcase your wedding day theme, so why not consider the following for your chocolate theme wedding:

Welcome Drink: Baileys on ice with chocolate milkshakes for the kids.

Reception Starter: Melon served with an orange and chocolate drizzle.

Reception Main Course: Rigatoni Carbonara or other cream based main meal.

Reception Desert: Death by Chocolate.

’Evening Do’ Food: Traditional finger buffet with the emphasis on the deserts - profiteroles, éclairs, chocolate cake, bars of chocolate, chocolate mousse etc.

The Wedding Cake: A chocolate wedding cake is simply a must and use as much of the stuff as you can! A multi-tiered chocolate sponge with a hazelnut praline filling encased in white chocolate swirls and topped with continental chocolates is one of our favourites!

Decor & Favours for a Chocolate Wedding Theme

Coffee, cream and gold coloured balloons with chocolate scented candles dotted around the room and even as part of the table centrepieces are a good idea, whilst cream chair covers are also a wise investment. When it comes to favours for chocolate wedding theme, personalised chocolate bars are an obvious call, whilt personalised chocolate bars of soap (yes, you can get them!) are a slant on the norm.

Music & Entertainment for a Chocolate Wedding Theme

A large chocolate fountain should be the centrepiece of your evening entertainment, decked out with marshmallows, fruit, chocolate pieces and more. Musically, you could opt for a Hot Chocolate or Sugarbabes tribute band (or even the real thing if you are that flush!).
