Colours for a Modern Wedding Theme
Colours play a big part in setting the scene to any big day, and when it comes to a modern wedding theme there really is only one colour scheme that you should use for maximum effect - black and white. Whilst you can waiver slightly and opt for ivory or cream instead of white, a strict black and white colour scheme screams chic sophistication and is the ideal accompaniement to any modern wedding theme.
Stationery for a Modern Wedding Theme
A wedding invitation will often be the first thing that a guest receives regarding the wedding so it is important that they are used to set the scene for any theme that you plan to impart upon the day. For a modern wedding theme, hand-made stationery, designed by the happy couple works best.
Whilst craft-based stationery will work OK, statioenry adorned with simple black and white photographs will look even more effective and contemporary. Look to continue this trend throughout the day - a black and white photo of food on the menus, a black and white photo of the ceremony venue on the order's of service etc.
Stationery for a Modern Wedding Theme
Look to use your wedding transport to create somewhat of a wow factor. With this in mind, steer clear of anything a little run of the mill and consider something more trendy - a Vespa scooter, a Porsche, a Ferrari (yes, you can get them in black!), Lamborghini - even a helicopter if you're feeling flush!
Modern Wedding Theme Outfits
A sleek ivory or white fishtail gown for the Bride is a great option, and be sure to accompany it with a simple crystal tiara as opposed to a veil. Sleek black gowns for the Bridesmaids, in a complementary style to that of the Bride's is a sensible option, and for the evening, simple white stoles or shrugs work well.
A classic lounge suit with black trousers, black shirt, white tie and white handkerchief is a must for the Groom and contrast this by having the Groomsmen sport
black ties and hankies to help the Groom stand out.
Modern Wedding Theme Flowers
If you are looking to introduce an element of colour into the proceedings then the flowers provide an ideal opportunity to do so. A single type of flower in one particular colour - red carnations, pink gerberas etc. will work well. That said, you can't go far wrong with white roses in simple arrangements, posies and boquets at a modern wedding theme.
Modern Wedding Theme Venues
Anywhere with a helipad is a good idea! Alternatively, a modern and grandiose building would be the most appropriate. Pay careful consideration to the interior decor and look for sleek, and sophisticated fixtures, fittings and decorations.
Food & Drink for a Modern Wedding Theme
Food and drink provide the happy couple with great ways to emphasise any wedding theme, so why not consider the following to help compliment your modern wedding theme:
Welcome Drink: Guinness or Sheridans to continue the colour scheme!
Reception Starter: Sweet Chilli Tiger Prawns.
Reception Main Course: Pan fried John Dory.
Reception Desert: Chocolate Chilli Cheesecake.
’Evening Do’ Food: Contempory canapes - sausage and bacon sandwiches etc.
The Wedding Cake: Individual black and white cupcakes embossed with a monogram of the newlyweds.
Decor & Favours for a Modern Wedding Theme
Ice sculptures, exploding balloons and a chocolate fountain are just some of the contemporary decor options ideal for any modern wedding theme. Lottery tickets, scratch-cards, personalised mint tins or miniature champagne bottles would work well as favours - failing that any small token simply presented in black and white packaging would provide a good alternative. Table entertainers, particularly table magicians or caricaturists are a great modern form of wedding entertainment whilst a casino accompanied by a swing or jazz band would be a nice option for the evening.
